Re: why can a blurred Fill show outside the path?

I still don't know how a clone is different from a duplicate, or even where the clone option is. I would do it micro's way.

And who cares about the markup? :|

You might want to have a look at the Inkscape Guide. ;)

I know, but doing it with a side button would feel more natural, I think.

My cool mouse yearns to be cool

My mouse has some extra buttons on it. I'd like to be able to bind some of the existing shortcuts (drag panning) to those buttons (or even alternative keyboard buttons.) Is there any way to do this?

Here's a little visual explanation

Sim, making an image 300dpi gives it +10 attack power. ;)

Re: Sizing help needed!

Do what I said, and work with it. You don't set it to the final size until you use the gimp.

Re: Sizing help needed!

Go to document properties and make it 800x600.

If you want 300dpi, make a 800x600 document, but jack the dpi up to 300 when you export. That will automatically increase the actuall size though.
So you have to open the image in gimp and resize to 800x600 with 300 dpi.

Re: Can Inkscape make transparent backgrounds?

I see, my bad. Sorry. Ok, you could also use gimp (and it's selection tools) to remove the picture's background easier. So you'll have two pictures, one with the background cut out, and with the foreground cut out. They both have the same size and transparency. Then bring em into Inkscape, us...

Dude, just select the picture, go to fill and stroke, and change it's opacity. :|

Re: snapping to gridlines (and rows/columns)

The rows/columns is sorta messed up for me too. I found that if you use the up and down buttons in the dialogue, instead of typing in values, it usually works.

Re: Creating a crossword puzzle grid?

A=Alpha. Alpha is how opaque/transparent it is. At 0, it would be invisible. :)

Edit: You should set the page size to what you need to print as.

Re: Creating a crossword puzzle grid?

Make sure your stroke weight isn't too small.

Also, are you making this with the intended sizes? I mean, is your page 2' x 3' or is it scaled a bit?

Re: Creating a crossword puzzle grid?

Friend, you have come to the right place. 8-) Check out this video tutorial.

At about two minutes in, he shows how to make a grid using the "rows and columns" function. Modify it to your situation and it should be what you need.

Re: Pixel Preview Mode

You could edit->Make bitmap copy

It's not the same as export bitmap. Bitmap copy will create a raster of the selected objects, and place it on the screen.

Re: Weird Perspective Effect Behaviour

Have you watched this tutorial? Apparently your reference polygon needs to be created in a special order (in regards to the nodes).

Note: This is an older tutorial, in .46 the order for selecting the target and the reference is reversed. (What you're doing now is correct)
