It's a standard that each file has a licence header.

The libraries are not included in Inkscape's source (at least the vast majority). They are their own projects.

Some files in Inkscape's source code have a different licence and in some cases, this is problematic. It's also a thing that Max has been working on (contacting people).

Currently, Inkscape consists of 4174 files.

For me, this topic is closed now - I saw it as a way to engage forum people a bit into Inkscape development and to get the attention of the devs for some of the most pressing issues. There's going to be a video later, so I guess my posts here will not remain the only relevant source for knowing about what happened at the hackfest for very long anymore - but you can collect the posts where you would like :)

Oh I must have misunderstood the title then. I didn't realize it was targetted for the hackfest.

If we want the topic closed, we might have to either lock it, or change the title. (Although changing the title only changes the title of the first message and new messages posted after the change. There will be 3 pages of messages where the title will still read as it is now. So changing the title might not be very effective in discouraging new messages.) It seems like the kind of title that will attract new members to add their 2 cents, up until 1.0 is released.

Thanks for the info on licensing! And thanks again for all the reports. I found it very interesting!

Congrats and many thanks, Moini!

Looks like the hackfest was fun, productive and inspiring. =)

Just one thing?
Well, then.....
Then, a grid scaling.
When I change the zoom factor - to higher, I often get very huge distances betwen grid lines. Realy too big distances.

And 2/1 of course, If is possible, to fix all bugs added in versions 0.92.x

Hi, I have landed here by looking for scripting. I think a scripting and debugging tool would be very useful, instead of looking for extensions and writing them in a pretty much closed way. It's inflexible. Illustrator has it (along with Photoshop and other tools). Scriptographer is another example.
I usually need to select some elements and perform some job on them, adapting the process often. Python is not my main language, javascript would be welcome. Would be nice to have some explorer-like UI to chose the scripts and run them and/or debug them.
What do you think?

Someone started implementing a python console for Inkscape, but it's far from ready.

As the 'make a wish' phase is long over, I would like to point all future visitors to this thread to the Inkscape bug tracker at
https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/issues/
for making their feature requests.

more to discuss...

e.g. Something broken since the dpi change is PLT support (plus other formats). Uniconverter hardcoded at 90 dpi.

Inkscape also uses Unicovertor to export to PLT, WMF and SK1, and import from SK1, PLT, CDT, WMF, CMX, CDR, CGM, CCX and AI formats.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1658260

Now UC has been updated to allow 96dpi. Inkscape devs might be able to integrate latest UC for upcoming Inkscape builds.

They threw out uniconvertor, as far as I know.

Is that documented anywhere?

I'm wondering about Inkscape support for the image formats UC handled.

Thanks,

Added to release notes. I hope, though, I'll be able to remove that part again before the final release:

It looks like the sK1 team is still interested in tinkering with the UC (for SVG in particular)... they just re-opened the ticket.

(I'm wondering what "incompatibility with any OS" refers to in the Inkscape commits.)

I wish I would remember, but I don't... Is UniConvertor Python3 compatible?

Hi Moini,
So, I am not sure if I can still add my one thing..
It would be very nice to be able to change the UI. Let's say add or delete buttons.
And maybe in this way be able to make a simpler UI for children or not so advanced users.

I think in the future Inkscape could be used in primary schools.
But teachers, mostly very busy women in the Netherlands, have difficulties understanding new software that looks complex.
They don't have time to learn how to use it. And they loose the appetite for it too.
So if it is possible to delete the advanced UI options, then it would be easier for them and the students to start using Inkscape.
Which I would love to see happen!

If people want to discuss their feature suggestions before posting them into the bug tracker, they can open a new thread here, too.
