Elipse handle - won't snap to anything

Postby Grobe » Thu Nov 10, 2011 2:31 am

Inkscape 0.48+devel r10728
OS = XP

Is there a setting that can make this sort of node to snap to the guide? Is this a known bug?

Not a bug (nor a regression in the development builds), rather a missing feature (IIRC already filed in the bug tracker): these handles of the parametrized ellipses/circles never snapped to snap targets (you can constrain the angle by pressing 'Ctrl' while dragging one with the mouse).

So far, I found Bug #170092 “Snapping for 'shape editing handles'” but not yet the other report that is referred to in the closing comment. I'll keep you updated here about any findings ;)

Please file a feature request for this. Inkscape currently cannot do this kind of "constrained snap" as it's called. It can only snap freely in two dimensions, or along a line or circle in one dimension. But this is not a circle, it's an ellipse... (probably it hasn't been implemented either when you're editing segments of a perfect circle like this).

BTW, you're quite lousy at drawing a pacman figure :lol:
