Hi.

Looks like you got that part right! Then it's very strange that python can not find pygtk!

Have a look at this;
https://github.com/senshu/Sozi/issues/179
http://sozi.baierouge.fr/wiki/en:install

Do you have another python install on your system?
Either "pure" python or another application featuring python - like Blender.

Hi.

That might explain it, most likely there are an environment variable pointing to "another" python installation - different than the one in Inkscape.
Will investigate more tomorrow and chime back.

Hi

Would it be a viable option for you to remove your other Pyton installations? At least just for testing?

Hi.

Did you try the extension before you re-installed python?

As an option you could try to install pygtk in your "main" python distribution.

Hi.

Ok, it's time to "start over" - I uninstalled and re-installed my Inkscape and managed to get "your" error message.
When downloading pygtk from this page; http://sourceforge.net/projects/timink/files/ and following the install instruction from the readme file inkcut started working again.
To test your install;

Start a DOS window and change to the Inkscape_install\Python directory, start python by typing python followed by a return. If you get anything different from this;
C:\Graphics\inkscape\python>python
Python 2.6.5 (r265:79096, Mar 19 2010, 21:48:26) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win32
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>>
you are in the incorrect directory or your Inkscape\python is "fried" (very unlikely).
When you are in the correct directory and with the correct python interpreter started try to import pygtk;
    >>>import pygtk
    >>>

Hopefully this time it will work.

By the way - where in the world are you? (If close - I'll drop by :D )

Hi.

At least we are in the same continent - I'am in Katy (Houston) Texas.
Maybe you can get some help from a whiz-kid in your area? Any volunteers?

Good Luck.

^lol. i hope because im trying to go all open source. i have finished 3 projects in inkscape now. all simple stuff but could really use this extension considering that i use a vinyl cutter for loads of decals and printed vinyl. the last project was a printed vinyl sign but the colors came out kinda off. the customer was ok with it but i would like them to be more accurate. it seems to me that there isnt a true cmyk output on inkscape? i know this is a discussion for another thread, sorry for the thread jack

Hi.

Looking at your screen grab again I would recommend you do some small changes to your Windows Explorer settings.
Enable "Show File Extensions" by Start - Control Panel - Folder Options, Select the view tab and remove the tick mark from; Hide extensions for known file types
add a tick mark to; Show hidden files, folders, and drives

Hiding file extensions for known file types can be "dangerous", let's assume I emailed you an attachment that would show up on your machine as; Funny_Cat.jpg - the real file name was Funny_Cat.jpg.exe - on double clicking this file - the program - which you believed was an image - would delete all jpg files from your system - Goodbye pictures! - Hello broken marriage! (Backup's - what backups?)
Why this setting is default in windows is only known in Redmond.
Still working on a solution for your problem, by the way - cannot get Inkcut to work on my system as it complains about "cups" - linux program! :D

Hi all,

I just made a different version of Inkcut with the following items:
- cutting by color
- contourcut with manual registration of two registration-marks
- calibration is now working
- Show output-device on first screen
- Better support for DMPL-plotters.
- Dialog-windows not behind main-window

I post the zip on the Sourceforge Inkcut-page:
https://sourceforge.net/p/inkcut/featur ... ts/4/#21d2

I post also a how-to on that page.
Right now it will be best working with small designs, because of the two registration-marks.
Have fun with it!

emax wrote:I have a Silhouette Cameo running here, everthings works fine on the Linux side.

However, when the blade moves to the starting position and from cutting-path to cutting path, it doesn't seem to have the blade 'up'. It cuts the moving legs as well. apparently the blade is down all the time.

Hi all. Brand new to this. i want to start using the Cameo to cut airbrush masks. I have the exact same issue as emax. Did anybody ever look at this? Much appreciated. I've got my Cameo running as a generic printer, raw. Cuts fine but also cuts the tool path legs, as emax states.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Edit: Using the latest build of ubuntu.

I would contact the machine's documentation or support. As far as I understand it, the machine is supposed to cut along paths. If it's cutting where there is no path, then it doesn't seem like it would be an issue with Inkscape.

But to be honest, I guess I don't really know what "moving legs" are.

Hy...

I've just installed Inkscape and Inkcut so it's my first time using them. We have packaging orders so we need to cut a lot of dielines for testing.
I use a SilverBullet cutter series. On the machine the BR is 34000 and ofc i have set that in the properties in inkut but it seems it just dosent send any information to it.
How i said it's my first time using inkscape and inkcut so maybe i am missing something.
Any help is apreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I get this on a ubuntu xenia, mutoh cut plotter, with a serial rs232 connected, have cups installed
Inkscape & inkcut 1.0

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "inkcutext.py", line 71, in <module>
effect.affect()
File "/usr/share/inkscape/extensions/inkex.py", line 268, in affect
self.effect()
File "inkcutext.py", line 47, in effect
from app.main import InkscapePlugin
File "/home/kajander/.config/inkscape/extensions/inkcut/app/main.py", line 33, in <module>
from bin.device import Device
File "/home/kajander/.config/inkscape/extensions/inkcut/app/bin/device.py", line 27, in <module>
import cups
ImportError: No module named cups

Tried to change sudo chmod 777 /dev/ttyS3 and S5 for the 2 serial ports however i only see one serial port back of computer

Ideas of a fix ?

Do you have cups installed? (Common Unix Printing Server)
The package name is cups, too.

Can't give any specific help, but did you install everything that needs to be installed for inkcut? It seems there's a file missing.
