How to reduce line thickness?

Postby Jonboy » Wed Jun 06, 2018 6:40 am

Hi,
When I trace an image the line thickness is a bit thick.
How do i reduce the line thickness as I want to use the traced image on a CNC Lazer cutting machine?

Thanks Jonboy

What do you mean by 'trace'? Do you manually trace? Do you use Path > Trace bitmap?

What line thickness are you referring to? The stroke width (width of the stroke of color that is applied to the path)? Or the area that is enclosed by a traced path?

If I'm guessing correctly, you may want to try centerline tracing to get just a path, not an area: https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-centerline-trace

I apologise for the lack of info this is all new to me.
What I am doing is tracing a Bitmap image for lazer cutting metal.
Thanks

Can you post an example of the kind of image? There are different concepts of 'lines', and 'trace bitmap' creates 'lines' from silhouettes, and areas from lines. It all depends on the contents of the picture.

Yes I am wanting to do centreline tracing so I can lazer cut a image onto metal. An image for example would a formula one racing car.

Then have a look at the linked extension. It's currently the only way to do it with Inkscape.
