Weird little shapes after tracing bitmap

Postby joe468 » Tue Aug 07, 2018 4:37 am

I attached a photo that has weird little bits of information that show up more often than not, around my image when I trace bit maps. Wondering what causes it, and how to avoid it. My guess is possibly low res. images maybe, if yes than I guess not much to do . Or if something else causes it. I make decals and end up wasting time deleting these to finish final design.

Thanks in advance

You may need to play with the settings for bitmap tracing. There's a tutorial for it in Inkscape: Help > Tutorials > Tracing Bitmaps.

It could be a low resolution image. Or it could be a line that's either too thin, or the space between the heart and the line is too narrow, based on the Threshold setting (if you used an option with a threshold setting). Or it could be the image is just very small to start with. You could share the file with us, if you want more than just guessing, as a reason.

For an image as simple as a heart, it might make more sense to just draw it in Inkscape, using a vector path from the start, rather than trace a raster image.
