Inkscape EPS to SVG Commandline issue in Windows!

Postby Shabeer » Fri Mar 01, 2019 9:00 pm

Hi,

I am using Inkscape version 0.92 in Windows 2008 server. Unable to convert EPS image to SVG via Inkscape command line utility.

Nothing happens when executing below command,

Code: Select all

inkscape.com -z -f input.eps -l out.svg

No output being displayed in the command prompt console.

Note:- If you open the any EPS image in Inkscape tool in the same server and then save as SVG, then the image is getting converted. The issue is with command line utility only.

Is the issue related to Ghostscript? Ghostscript is already installed in the server due to which its working when we open Inkscape and save as SVG. Do we need to specify the Ghost script details to Inkscape when calling from command prompt. If so, how?

Could some one help in this please?

Regards,
Shabeer

Works for me on Linux Mint 19.1 with Inkscape 0.92.4. What is your Inkscape version?

The Inkscape version we are using is 0.92 only, but we are trying in Windows.

Though we tried installing Inkscape 0.92 version in Linux Redhat 6.6, but it asks for so much of dependencies. If you could suggest where we can download the Inkscape with all its required libraries for this version of Linux, it will also be really helpful.

We want to make Inkscape work commandline either in Windows or the Linux version.

Shabeer

Sorry, I don't have Redhat Linux, can't help you there. The dependencies it asks for are probably necessary, though, see list below.

For Windows, get the most up-to-date version from the Inkscape website: https://inkscape.org/release/0.92.4/windows/

Hi,

We have installed the latest Inkscape in our Windows server and still we could not make the command line conversion work for EPS to SVG.

As mentioned in the first draft, nothing happens when we execute the command,

Code: Select all

inkscape -z -f input.eps -l out.svg

Is it working for you in Windows?

Shabeer

No idea, I wouldn't want to use that (esp. not on a server).

Others here may be able to comment, though.

Hi,

The conversion is working with an additional option as --without-gui.
