Thanks Faux-kun, your support is appreciated.

As you're presumably already an Inkscape user, you might also like to download the SVG files that we make available on our website when we post each strip. We hide at least one Easter Egg in every comic, most of which can be found by opening the SVG file in Inkscape, and many of which add significantly to the comic itself.

We're on Facebook and Twitter as TheGreysComic if you want to be notified when we post new strips, and the first two seasons of comics (plus SVG files, Italian translations, extra Easter Eggs and a load more) are also available cheaply on a CD-ROM (all profits go towards paying our ISP charges).

Latest comic:

10th November, 2011: Mooniversal Translator

In other news, we now have a second comic, "Monsters, Inked", which appears weekly in our local newspaper, The Bucks Herald. Currently there's very little on the website as we're planning to post the strips there a few weeks after their appearance in the newspaper, and we've only just had the second comic printed. I don't propose to post the strips on this site, as it's primarily a print comic for a local newspaper rather than a webcomic, and although we trace, colour and letter it in Inkscape, it's not really a "created with Inkscape" strip in the same sense that The Greys is. But I'll probably link to the latest strips on the website with each Greys announcement in case you do want to view them.

The previous strip - "Hobble on the Cobbles" - was another Aylesbury-themed comic for our local Town Council's magazine:

Latest strip:

1st December, 2011: "Dead for a Long Time"

We also have a special offer running throughout December: if you order one or more of our CDs, we'll also include a unique original Greys sketch. See this page for more details.

In other news, we have received our first French translation of a Greys strip: Bottes de Yeti

And there are now five comics from our local newspaper strip, "Monsters, Inked", available online. Whereas The Greys is entirely drawn in Inkscape, Monsters, Inked is hand drawn, then traced, coloured and lettered in Inkscape - which leads to a markedly different aesthetic:

There is a vague notion of a plot, so if you want to see the five that are online so far, you might want to start at the beginning.

Thanks for the kind words, they really are appreciated.

Although Inkscape plays a significant part in the creation of Monsters, Inked (MI), the style of it comes primarily from the hand-drawn artwork of Vince, my co-creator for these strips. Although I'll mention it from time to time, I don't intend to promote it too heavily on this site, as it's not so much of an example of what Inkscape can do (as we hope The Greys is), but more an example of what Vince can do. So if you want to follow MI, don't wait for me to post it here - you'll have to actually visit our site each week.

While The Greys is a fortnightly strip, MI is principally drawn for our local newspaper, The Bucks Herald, so appears weekly. Which means that between them we now produce 6-8 comics each month, rather than the 2-3 we did before! What a bargain - three times the comics, for no extra cost* :D

*Though donations and purchases of our Greys CD are always welcomed, as we keep having to upgrade our ISP package to handle the ever-increasing mass of files we're making available for free download

Fun comic, thanks for sharing here. I just started reading through your backlog... then I'll have to look into the easter eggs a bit more. Best!

My advice would be to check out the Easter Eggs as you go along, because they usually relate to the main comic in some manner - often adding to the joke, or even subverting it completely. It's usually fairly easy to find one if you've got a bit of experience with Inkscape - but many strips contain two or more, so keep an eye out even if you've already found one. But above all, I hope you continue to enjoy the comics :D

Somehow your latest comic makes me think of Will Wheaton.

It also reminds me how I was cured of ever becomming an autograph hunter. I was only about 5 years old, and my mother told me that she was going to meet someone related to a big shot hockey player at the time. She told me she could get me his autograph if I wanted. That sounded awesome as I was merely a kid and had never met anyone famous. I was incredibly exited about having an autograph, since it seemed so cool.

Said and done, my mother went away for a couple of days, and I was anxious for her to come home so I could have my super cool autograph. When she finally got home I was basically running in the air because of the exitment. However, when she handed me the paper with the autograph, my heart dropped and I was sooo disappointed. I COULD NOT READ THE FREAKING NAME!! It terminated any wish I could ever have about collecting autographs right then and there.

That's a great story Natural Reject - perhaps not for you at the time though!

Our latest Greys comic was posted on Thursday as usual, but I've been holding off promoting it until now as we were running low on bandwidth last month. A couple of our strips ranked fairly highly on reddit.com which caused significant traffic spikes, and despite increasing our hosting package, we still managed to run out of bandwidth and drop off the internet for a few hours yesterday. Enough excuses, on with the comics...

Latest comic (the penultimate one of Season 3):

In other, not-so-good news, a change of editor at our local newspaper has meant that our 'Monsters, Inked' comic has been dropped :(
We've decided to carry on with it on our website - not least because it's actually telling a story, rather than being just individual jokes. We're hoping to continue with weekly strips, posted each Wednesday (but without a print deadline to meet anymore, we're not offering any guarantees).

As we're at the start of a new season, it seems like a good time for a few reminders:

1) All our Greys comics are under a Creative Commons license which lets you pass them around to friends and family. Please do, if you think they'd like them.

2) We make the Inkscape SVG files available for all our comics for you to download and play around with. We hide Easter Eggs in all of them to encourage you.

3) Not familiar with Inkscape? Mark is writing a series of tutorials for Full Circle Magazine. More info here.

4) We have Greys strips translated into various languages. This year has seen a couple more Italian translations, a Russian one, and a huge number of Indonesian and French translations. The French ones now cover every single strip from Season 1! Check out the full list on our Google spreadsheet.

5) Our other comic, 'Monsters, Inked', is still running too.

6) You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter (and DeviantArt and Tumblr (twice!)).

7) This year our traffic has increased significantly - we've had to increase our ISP package three times! Obviously this costs us more money, so forgive me for finishing off with a small plug for our Season 1 & 2 CD-ROM which contains all 57 comics (plus source files), Italian translations, an interactive HTML5 audio interview, Easter Eggs, videos and more. Only £5, including worldwide delivery. If you don't want to give us £5 then any tips are also gratefully received on that same page.

8) Most importantly we hope you enjoy Season 4.
