Also love his damaged hand.Only one thing the "Hair" maybe is too dark?
Cheers, J.

That is certainly debatable. I don't think so but others might agree with you. The color palette is from one of my pixel pieces and the hair is the darkest tone in the palette. I think any of the other colors would have felt wrong... but to be honest, I haven't tried since I had the black beard in mind right from the start :D

Man I'd love to get one your project svgs to analyse and study how you put your stuff together. Any throw away pieces you'd be okay with sharing?

No throw away pieces... Once I get past the line-art stage, I pull through until the end. When I start working on something and notice early in the process that I don't like how things are going, I usually just scrap the piece, i.e. delete it.

----------

Here's a little teaser I posted a couple of days ago in my blog. Going to finish this pic soon... tomorrow maybe. No, it's not going to be animated.

Trust me, when I delete something, it's really no good. Otherwise, if I can see even just a spark of inspiration or usefulness in a piece I'll rather put it away for another day. And like I said, once I've begun working on colors there's no turning back. The only things I delete are usually still in the very early stages (transition from sketch to clean line-art).

----------

Here's the one from the last teaser above... Not much to say about it.

That is how it goes, for six months now.

Me being away for 8 hours a day means 8 hour screen time for spam.
Spammers would explode silently with the late first post approval system in the background yet for no apparent reason microUgly is not changing it back.

People from inkscapeboard trying to contact for the database, and planning to find another solution, like building a new forum from scratch.
Thinking of the site's hosting fees and refusing to answer any messages from anyone it is not-so unlikely that this forum will go down all in a sudden, as it was opened somewhere in June.

Yes, 9 year anniversary in June/July. It would be a shame to lose it all. But that's what it appears is going to happen.

Almost 2 weeks ago, I gave my 2 week notice for answering messages here. After that I will be involved in creating a new "official" forum (and of course continuing to maintain Inkscape Community, as before).

However, that will not be a fast process, and I couldn't even guess how long it might take.

I started Inkscape Community almost 3 years ago, in full knowledge of the admin's (admin of IF, this forum) apparent lack of interest, partly so there would be a fallback, in case this forum disappears. So if this forum disappears, or if Lazur gives up on spam patrol, we can use Inkscape Community's forum.

And another little fact. Of all the possibilities in creating a new official forum, designating Inkscape Community as the official forum, is one possibility. I hope only a slight possibility, but there are a lot of factors to consider, and we'll start down that pathway next week.

Because I will offer the databases of IC (tiny as they are, compared to IF) to the new official forum (if IC turns out not to be the official forum) it would benefit the community to migrate to IC asap. Because every helpful message posted and answered here on IF is as good as lost already. I'm holding 0.5% chance that the IF databases will be saved (because the admin isn't answering any kind of message). So the sooner we start posting in IC, the better for the community as a whole.

Lazur
I had no idea you were the only one dealing with all the spam crap. Shows how little I know of anything outside of my "home thread"...

Personally, I don't see why IC shouldn't become the new official place. Any reasons speaking against it?

[edit]
Meh, just thinking of being in a place that might just vanish while I'm typing feels kinda surreal...

To be honest, that's been a possiblity for the last 3 or 4 years.

My short answer would be that with this committee, and at least some support from the development community, we have the possibility of a forum on the Inkscape website. In the end, that may not be possible. But the idea deserves some attention (imo).

Do the rocks in the background move? Makes me dizzy :) How did you create the motion blur effect? Doesn't look like a filter, at least not all of it.

Hahaha, no the rocks aren't moving. The answer to the question, how the motion blur effect was done, is actually quite simple: with a motion blur filter and linear motion settings (externally, not in Inkscape). I've used this effect in a bunch of pics before. I kinda like that effect although I agree, it can screw with your eyes :D

Alright, that's probably my last post here. I've just created a new thread on InkscapeCommunity, where I'll be posting my stuff from this point on.

I'd like to leave a big THANK YOU here for microUgly! I hope you read this man. Thanks for introducing me to Inkscape and giving my works a home in this forum. I wish you all the best!

Also, thanks a ton to everybody who commented, gave feedback and thus also motivated me to keep on doing what I'm doing. I hope I'll meet some of you again in some other place soon.

Cheers!

Sorry to see you go, good luck. Hopefully you might drop in now and again to say hello in the next year or two. I don't think the majority of users and contributors are giving up on this forum in any way just yet.

Thanks druban! I was under the impression that the forum is about to shut down any day now, what with the spam, no word from the admin, efforts creating a new forum and all that. If it'll still be around, fine with me. I can at least go on posting new works when I've got some... which to be honest was pretty much all I ever did in this forum.
