Thank's!

Such a glossy filter should be redrawn from scratch because that was the closest with this rig. Also worth mentioning that it uses a full black-to-white gradient as an input/full luminance range. Would you draw a bug in that full scale? Because it sounds unintuitive.

Following the paint look, a less watercolour-more oil painting one:

The second is more like concrete or plaster - interesting!

The second one is the shading of the paint bumps over the grey paper texture in the background -the first is also semi-transparent, working as an "underpaint".

Hmm that wasn't intended to look as a concrete backdrop, may worth to make a concrete inscription filter?

Anyway.
Another paint looking filter pack -this time with added inkscape menu and tooltip labels so you can access them from the dropdown filter list's "worn paint" option if you save the file into inkscape/share/filters -or to the similar appdata folder.

Got carried away with this one. Without voronoi noise as a filter primitive, can't get better to the organic texture.

Lazur, my laptop is so old and these pics are so big, that I can't load them. (is there anyway that you might consider uploading smaller pics?). I got the tops draw of a couple, the leaves, from what I saw were great.

Even on a relatively new computer, it takes these pages with filters a while to load - maybe 30 sec to a minute.

Yes that leaf is a bit heavy. Tried uploading a zoomed in copy to ocal if they could render a larger resolution to no avail.
Tried exporting to png the same thing at the same size -inkscape shut down after making an 1 kb large png...
Now trying to export at half the size.
Ocal rendered a 800 px wide version -of the 2400 px image- though:
Image

Regarding image size -doesn't the forum resize the larger images to a certain width?
This forum at least, the other topic acts a bit inconsistent.
Like, if you click on an image that has a link embedded, then it switches to its original size.
-for that matter inkscape.org's gallery displays the svg once you click the svg's thumbnail in the same frame (?) so it'd result in an instant hanging and/or if image had off spec features such as the gradient mesh, the browser wouldn't display a good rendering.

Openclipart rasterizes svg-s upon url query -if you edit the 2400 px from their thumbnails theoretically you can get to the preferred size.
Have contacted Magirly about that, to share some details, no answer yet.
Like it could take heavy resources from them if the size is too large, don't know if there is a query size limit.
By default they make at least three sizes, one in 90, 800 and 2400 px widths.

For example, here is the corresponding part you can edit:

Code: Select all

https://openclipart.org/image/>>>2400px<<</svg_to_png/288443/leaf-7.png

On my blog I embed images at 800 px width, which also fits well with forums on the screen I'm using (1366px6768 px). What sizes would you prefer?

Took the time and exported the previous image in inkscape 0.92.
This is how it was "supposed" to look:

the other topic acts a bit inconsistent.

Possibly more misunderstood than inconsistent. We can embark on researching, if you like. If the software isn't working properly I don't mind submiting bug reports or feature requests. First step, define the problem :D

However, there are most likely differences in how the different forum software (a) works, and more importantly (b) is configured, which can't completely be known...not without input from Xav, who may not have time for research.

But I have the same slowness for the filter images on both site. Like just now, I looked at the first page for the first time in a while - I had to wait for the images to download, just like here. Once a page is allowed to fully display the images (on either site) it displays more quickly after that.

The problem with slowness loading is due to the weight of the image (although the servers, and even our individual internet connection would play into the slowness). This last one looks to be around 5 mb, right?

Yes. Most of the images embedded are hosted at openclipart and they are a bit slow too. Sometimes their main page loads in a minute and sometimes have to retry uploading due hitting the upload button doesn't take action.

The last one is hosted at deviantart which should be faster with the advertisements hanging everywhere...
But they have an embedding policy which probably I'm violating with not using their frame.

Inconsitent compared to this forum. Don't think it as a bug but a feature.

Metallic packs -thumbnails are generated by ocal with inkscape 0.91; 0.92 renders them differently a bit.

Tried using some of those filters in a "simple" image.
Got too heavy...

Here are the svg sources, check if you can export them:

source 2
-haven't exported them myself but as a hint ocal refused to render even a 90 px wide thumbnail in 3 hours.

An update to the ocal thumbnails.
So far, 90 px and 250 px wide variants are rendered to their fullness:

The rest? No, processing seems to be over. And rendering is broken.

Almost five years since the embossed metal and scratch paint filters.
Sort of worth an anniversary celebration of progressing. What a better way to give it a new spin.

An organic pack:

and a remix using previous filters

Image

The new pack was intended to be used with leafs however it didn't come out well with this plant; used an alteration of it in the background of the bottom image.
As a result, made another pack out of it to better sout that purpose although the thumbnail wasn't rendered correctly by ocal:

Oh the irony in this one is solid.
I'm making these filters -and also filtering the first posts. You'd been disapproved more times than anyone else. Had asked in pm why are you so desperate. No reply ever since. It's not about those loudspeakers you are trying to sell, is it?
