Mate : argentinian drink

Postby yemanja » Thu Jun 28, 2007 8:22 am

After see the icons breakfeast, i make this :

Image

It's mate. Argentinian drink.

This drawing look wrong. I think it's because i dont' know how rounded the gradient in the middle of the object.

Anybody have triks ?

It's rather annoying we don't have angle/conical gradients. I assume this isn't a limitation of Inkscape but rather the SVG standard. I'm not sure why this type of gradient would be overlooked as any effort to produce the effect will be very unflexible. Illustator also lacks an angle gradient, but Illustrator has envelop distort which can be used to transform a linear gradient into an angle gradient.

I thought you might have been able to simulate the effect by using the "Interpolate" effect but it doesn't take into account object rotation.

Sorry, I was wrong. You can use interpolate to create a angle gradient.

With this gradient :Image

Download the svg and you will get the gradient. Enjoy :)

This drawing look wrong. I think it's because i dont' know how rounded the gradient in the middle of the object.

i would say : the problem is you'r using a linear gradient on a rounded object. You should try to use a radial one (in a radial gradient, you can do a lot of things playing with "shift" on the center of the gradient - in "node editing" mode).

Most important thing is you look at the mate can and see wich part(s) is/are the brightest. (and what kind of form they are)

But it's a very nice object and i like mate although i havn't drunk it for a long time.
